मुख्य सचिव डॉ. एस. एस. संधु ने बुधवार को सचिवालय में उत्तराखण्ड लैंडस्लाइड मिटिगेशन एंड मैनेजमेंट सेंटर की प्रगति की समीक्षा की। मुख्य सचिव ने सचिव आपदा को सेंटर की स्थापना में तेजी लाने के निर्देश देते हुए कहा कि यह सेंटर विश्व स्तर का बनाया जाना है।
मुख्य सचिव ने कहा कि हिमालयी राज्यों में भूस्खलन बहुत बड़ी समस्या है, परन्तु राष्ट्रीय स्तर में भी भूस्खलन से सम्बन्धित अध्ययन, शोध और न्यूनीकरण के लिए समर्पित कोई संस्थान उपलब्ध नहीं है। इस क्षेत्र में उत्तराखण्ड लैंडस्लाइड मिटिगेशन एंड मैनेजमेंट सेंटर सिर्फ अन्य राज्यों को ही नहीं बल्कि देश-विदेश में सेवा उपलब्ध कराने में एक महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा सकता है।
मुख्य सचिव ने कहा कि इस सेंटर के कार्यों में गुणवत्ता बनाए रखने के लिए विश्व स्तरीय विशेषज्ञता पर फोकस किया जाए। इस सेंटर में सम्बन्धित क्षेत्र से प्रोफेशनल्स को ही तैनात किया जाए। उन्होंने कहा कि इसके लिए सम्बन्धित क्षेत्र में कार्य कर रहे नेशनल और इंटरनेशनल संस्थानों में कार्य कर रहे प्रोफेशनल्स से संपर्क किया जाए।
मुख्य सचिव ने उत्तराखण्ड लैंडस्लाइड मिटिगेशन एंड मैनेजमेंट सेंटर शीघ्र ऑपरेशनल किए जाने हेतु प्रत्येक स्तर की तिथियां निर्धारित किए जाने के निर्देश दिए।
इस अवसर पर सचिव आपदा डॉ. रंजीत सिन्हा सहित अन्य अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।
